Undergraduate Studies
There is a strong commitment to undergraduate education in the School of Social Sciences. All faculty in the School teach undergraduates. The School strives to create a rich and meaningful educational experience. One of the goals of the School of Social Sciences is to give undergraduate students opportunities to have real life experiences so they are able to make informed decisions about what they would like to do after they graduate. To accomplish this goal, the School has created Gateway.
Gateway consists of three components available to students. The first is research experience through SSURE (Social Sciences Undergraduate Research Enterprise); the second is course credit for participating in an internship; the third is an international experience through the Social Sciences International Ambassador Program. All three components allow students to experience life outside the classroom and require the use of critical thinking and analytical skills.
While each department and program in the Social Sciences is distinctive, students will find that, whatever their interests, there are courses in more than one department that will be of interest to them. We encourage all students to explore the offerings of other departments and programs, rather than to presume that there is only one course of study that will satisfy their needs. The School of Social Sciences offers the following majors:
Anthropology
Economics
Political Science
Psychology
Sociology
Cognitive Sciences
Managerial Studies
Policy Studies
