Our social sciences research promotes collaborative, interdisciplinary and cutting-edge research in the fields of Anthropology, Economics, Linguistics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Sport Management that examines the manner in which people impact the world around them.
The Rice Social Sciences faculty strongly believe in encouraging the next generation of researchers, and they frequently hire undergraduate and graduate student researchers to assist them with their projects. Many of our faculty are asked to serve as mentors or advisors on predoctoral or postdoctoral funding applications, and they encourage their students to learn the process of submitting grant applications to prepare them for future careers in academia.
It is no wonder that, in addition to being recognized as premier research scholars, they consistently win between a third and a half of all university-wide teaching awards.
