Hartley is currently the Head of Asia Pacific Energy Investment Banking at Jefferies, based in Singapore. His coverage runs from North Asia through South and Southeast Asia and into Australia, with a practice that spans across the energy value chain, from upstream through to energy transition. At Jefferies, Hartley has led and been involved in transactions across Asia Pacific, Africa, Latin America, North America and the Caspian. Hartley also works with clients across a broad range of products, M&A advisory, ECM and DCM.

Prior to joining Jefferies, Hartley worked at Mubadala, one of the sovereign wealth funds in Abu Dhabi, in their energy platform. 

Hartley’s career spans both the domestic and international energy industry, with Hartley starting his career with BP in Houston in various commercial and finance roles. He then moved into equity research, focusing on lower 48 independents, before moving to Pittsburgh and leading the commercial function at Talisman Energy (now Repsol) in their Marcellus Shale business unit.

Outside of work, Hartley is passionate about giving back both to Rice University, volunteering with RAVA and in other capacities, as well as with various charitable foundations in Singapore. One distinct area of focus he has is to provide scholarships to students, across age groups and interests, enabling them to pursue dreams and have access to educational opportunities.

Hartley holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Rice University. He has also completed coursework at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.
