School Leadership

The Office of the Dean is the academic and administrative heart of the School of Social Sciences. The Dean, in collaboration with associate deans and staff, oversees the School’s academic programs, strategic planning, and financial health. Department Chairs are the academic and administrative leaders of their respective departments within the School of Social Sciences. They play a crucial role in shaping the intellectual life of the School by fostering research, managing departmental affairs, and supporting faculty and students. Chairs provide essential leadership, guiding their departments toward continued success and academic distinction.

The Dean's Advisory Board is a vital source of information and innovative ideas to help guide the School's future. Board members provide guidance directly to the dean of social sciences at quarterly meetings. The engagement and support of board members is a key reason for the success of the social sciences at Rice University.
