Sylvia J. Hysong, Ph.D. is the Director of the Houston Evidence-based Rapid Measurement and EvaluationS Center (HERMES), Research Career Scientist at the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness and Safety (IQuESt), Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), and Senior Scholar for the VA Quality Scholars (VAQS) Program Coordinating Center.  She is an industrial / organizational psychologist with nearly three decades of experience in organizational research and quality improvement implementation, a Fellow of the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and associate editor of BMJ Quality and Safety.  Her research focuses on improving the work life of heatlh-care professionals so they can deliver better quality care to patients.
