Rice University stood out to me for its exceptional reputation in energy studies and its strategic location in Houston, a global energy hub. I was drawn to the Master’s in Energy Economics program for its unique integration of economics and energy, which aligns with my experience in the electricity sector in Colombia. Moreover, Rice’s strong network and commitment to diversity create an enriching environment to collaborate with leaders and experts across the energy value chain, expanding my perspective on sustainable energy solutions. I am also here as a Fulbright scholar, an opportunity that underscores the international value of education and cross-cultural collaboration.

My objective lies in addressing critical energy issues, such as subsidies and international trade, while developing innovative solutions tailored to the Latin American context. Rice provides an unparalleled platform to network with global professionals, enhance my understanding of energy markets, and refine my abilities to propose impactful strategies for a cleaner and more sustainable future in the energy sector.

Additionally, studying at one of the world’s top universities—especially one based in Houston, the energy capital of the United States—offers unique opportunities for gaining insights into stock markets and acquiring hands-on work experience. At Rice, I aim to contribute my perspectives while collaborating on transformative ideas, projects, and initiatives that shape the future of energy.
